North Canyon Medical Center Nearing Completion

North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding is nearing completion with the ribbon cutting and public tours coming up on February 12th. The opening of this new state of the art medical center will benefit not only the community of Gooding, Idaho, but all of the communities in Gooding County and beyond. The communities who will benefit from the new medical center include, Hagerman, Wendell, Bliss, Shoshone, Glenns Ferry, Jerome, Fairfield, and Buhl.

In an effort to inform people about what is going on in our communities I will try to post information about city and county government happenings as I come across it. I know it is available through many sources, but hope that this will become the place where you can stay abreast of what is going on in your community government.

The current issue is the action that the Wendell City Council has decided to delay action on a daycare ordinance until the state has adopted legislation they are considering. Read the Times New Article by Blair Koch.

Community College Provides Healthcare Education

The community college in Twin Falls, College of Southern Idaho is helping to alleviate the shortage of healthcare workers. Area communities will benefit from the training many of these students receive who plan to stay in our communities. It is also a benefit for students who are changing careers, either by choice or because of economic factors affecting their jobs requiring that they change careers. The Times News writes, “If you want to know where the rubber meets the road in higher education in Idaho, look north from the College of Southern Idaho campus. There you’ll find the new $21 million CSI Health Sciences and Human Services building, 72,270 square feet full of job potential. . . : : .” Read the enitre article.

Just read an article in the Idaho Business Review about a study that says Idaho’s tax burden is the sixth lowest per capita. Construction of the North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, Idaho is 90% complete on on schedule for the February 12, 2010 ribbon cutting and March 2, 2010 opening. Completion of flooring is in progress, with final coat of paint being applied in some areas. Kitchen equipment is in place, and the two reception desks are installed. Exterior construction is substantially complete with the landscaping completed and flag pole to be installed. The residents and medical providers of Gooding County and the surrounding area are anticipating the completion of their new hospital and the enhanced “quality healthcare, close to home” that we be available.
